Cora Tula Watters Short Bio

I am a mixed blood Appalachian Shawnee. A warrior woman. I come from a centuries-old line of warriors, male and female - Indian and White.

The first Watters in America came from England to fight in the Revolution, a fighter for people's freedom from oppression. Our family has had warriors in every war since then. My visually impaired father memorized the eye chart so he could pass the examination and be enlisted into the SeaBees when he was 39 years old. His brother went to Canada to enlist before America was involved in WWII. My aunt was a Corps Wave in the U.S. Navy, My favorite cousin a Marine in the same global conflict. When America went to war with Korea I also enlisted in the best - the U.S. Marine Corps.

This proposed war is neither a just war nor a war for freedom. We have marginal support among other nations. Our economy is staggering without the horrific expense of even a short war and the cost of rehabilitating the devastation Iraq would incur is beyond comprehension.

We must use every diplomatic effort available to solve the problems confronting the world community prior to even considering going to war. We needs go back to being respected as the "give me your tired, your poor...", the haven for the oppressed, the protector of the endangered, and the leader in achieving world pea
