Donald Rumsfeld -- The BushWhacker & The New Military Defense Posture

Donald Rumsfeld
The BushWhacker & The New Military Defense Posture

He's back in the saddle again with his former co-worker Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, now heads up the Department of Defense. He advocates the missile shield against rogue states, a boondoggle that has seen its price soar from $60B to $100B, one hundred billion dollars and no sense. He favors abandoning the ABM Treaty with Russia against all objections from national groups and international leaders.

A grand supporter of right wing military causes and groups thoughout the world, the ones we love to hate, Rumsfeld has set his eyes upon the militarization of space, a diminished commitment to UN peacekeeping, a military buildup for Taiwan and a more aggressive unilateral military policy to protect U.S. interests abroad.

Because of the instability in the world, Rumsfeld wants to ensure that the U.S. A. can "meet the threats of a new century". If there is a dangerous world out there, Rumsfeld will do what he can to prove it.

The former CEO for pharmaceutical giant C.D. Searle and military weapons contractor General Instrument, Rumsfeld walked away with $11M for himself, when G.I was sold to General Dynamics. He went on to chair the Rumsfeld Commission, which conveniently assessed the missile threat to the United States and was responsible for developing the notion that rogue states, Iran, Iraq and North Korea, pose missile attack threats against the homeland. The findings have been challenged and opposed by many various groups, individuals, scientists. Even the CIA struggled with the Commission's findings.

Rumsfeld was awarded the Keeper of the Flame Award by the Center for Security Policy, which includes Bruce Jackson on its board. Jackson wrote the foreign policy platform for the Shrub campaign. Jackson is also the V.P. of Lockheed Martin, the worldest largest weapons manufacturer slated ro receive a big chunk of change for the research and development of the missle defense shield. Oh, he is also a close associate of Donald Rumsfeld.

Stephen Hadley will step in as Deputy Director for Defense. Another chorus boy, it so happens that Hadley is an associate partner for the big D.C. law firm, Shea and Gardner. This law firm represents no other than Lockheed Martin. Hadley worked with Bruce Jackson on the Committee to Expand NATO, which sought to increase NATO membership by bringing former East Bloc countries into the alliance. A sure profit maker for the defense industry, these countries had to upgrade and purchase military equipment to be compatible with other NATO nations.

On a small side note, Lynn Cheny, wife to Dick, sat on the board of Lockheed Martin. Dick sat on the board of TRW. Both these military contractors have been awarded from $20 - $30 in contracts for developing space-based lasers.

The revolving door. Conflict of interests. Nope, simply national security. No threats of the new century will harm the homeland. Too bad they are destroying our "democratic principles", the ones that this country so much esteems. And therein lies the real danger to our country.
