from our inbox: Mission Atrocious: Winter Soldier Book Offers Perspective on Occupations
The collective testimony presented in Winter Soldier: Iraq and Afghanistan, Eyewitness Accounts of the Occupations, includes personal stories ranging from the U.S. military's continual disregard for the official Rules of Engagement to the VA's systematic denial of mental health care for returning veterans. Their testimonies show these are not isolated incidents perpetrated by a 'few bad apples,' but the logical outcome of faulty policy by the Administration. The book also features the stories of military families and Iraqi civilians who have been affected by the occupations. Winter Soldier: Iraq and Afghanistan preserves and honors the participants' courageous contributions as they continue to embolden the GI Resistance Movement and work to end the occupation of Iraq. Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) was founded by Iraq war veterans in July 2004 to allow servicemen and women from all branches of the military a chance to come together and speak out against an unjust, unwinnable and illegal occupation. Today, IVAW has over 1,300 members in 49 states, Washington, D.C. and Canada, and on military bases in the U.S. and overseas, including Iraq. *To order a copy of Winter Soldier: Iraq and Afghanistan, Eyewitness Accounts of the Occupations go to www.ivaw.org. -- Francesca Lo Basso National Media Coordinator Iraq Veterans Against the War This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
