About VVAWAI Vietnam Veterans Against the War Anti- Imperialist is part of a network of anti-imperialist veterans who are proud of our resistance to U.S. aggression around the world. In the 1970s, to be a Vietnam veteran was to be against the war. That proud legacy must be carried forward into this new millennium. As veterans, we have been to the edge and seen the viciousness of Amerikkka unmasked. We have no doubt that the bastards who sent us to war will use their nuclear arsenal, along with unspeakably cruel conventional weapons, to maintain their empire. The world we live in today is like a grenade with the pin pulled. Nobody knows where it will pop off next. An invasion of Iran or North Korea? Additional slaughter in the deserts of the Middle East? "The War on Terror" or "Defense" is always the excuse, and the battle cry is "Keep America #1!" We have learned there is no glory in murder, no excuse in obedience, and no future in patriotism. If we have to fight or die, let it be for the world, not the warlords. Let us find our glory in stopping the murder and destruction! |
VVAWAI has the following points of unity: - VVAWAI is an anti-imperialist organization which is open to veterans of all eras, reservists, and active duty GIs.
- VVAWAI has vowed to bring the lessons paid for in blood into direct opposition to any wars or war preparations by the U.S. and all imperialist powers, East or West.
- VVAWAI upholds all resistance to imperialist war by GIs, reservists, veterans and the anti-war/peace movement.
- Just as we upheld the righteous struggle of the people of South East Asia fighting for their liberation, we uphold the just struggles of people around the world as they fight for their liberation today.
- As veterans, we know that racism and the subjugation of women are twin pillars of crimes against humanity. We vow to oppose these and all other forms of oppression.

What is an Outpost? First of all, you probably are wondering what the heck is an "Outpost?" Early in the days of StormWarning!, we were talking about vets and particularly those who are in areas more or less by themselves--without the ability to be full blown chapters of VVAWAI--but who we need to be more a part of our inner network. Nothing like naming something to make it come true, so we laughingly came up with the term "Outposts of Freedom" for those who have tighter unity, distribute the literature, and interact on a higher level than a "subscriber." (Hey, if the VFW has "Posts"--it seems like the vets who say "We are All Outlaws in the Eyes of Amerikkka" should have "out-posts!") An Outpost gets a bundle of each issue and takes responsibility to sell them. Some Outposts take a stack of 5, others take as many as 100. Outposts need not be veterans, they only have to support our work well enough to take responsibility for spreading it. In addition to StormWarning! distribution, an Outpost receives our press releases and other communications. They try to get the press releases into the hands of the commercial and alternative press, including student publications, radio stations, TV or whatever exists in their area. That ensures that our message gets wide distribution in many places we couldn't possibly find or reach ourselves. Similarly, when we issue leaflets, we generally send a master of them to Outposts. The Outpost then figures out how to reproduce it and where it can be distributed or posted. Finally an Outpost acts as a "Listening Post" for VVAWAI, sending us news, material for StormWarning!, leads or information that needs our attention. If you would like this Outpost page and information about working in the underground in PDF format, click here. There is no other group like VVAWAI, nor any other publication like StormWarning! We hope you will consider becoming a VVAWAI Outpost. |
