Questions About Our Site

Since we have started this site, we have been asked these questions by more than one person so we felt it would help to share them with everyone. If you have a question or comment, please use our feedback form or send email to thevets@vvawai.org.

  • Who are you?
We are an organization of anti-imperialist veterans who, because of our experiences in the U.S. military, are opposed to U.S. imperialism and its intervention around the world as well as at home. See our points of unity Points of Unity for more about us.

  • Is your organization for Vietnam veterans only?
No. Our organization was started during the Vietnam war by veterans who came back and joined the anti-war movement to oppose that war. However, once that war ended, many of us realized that the real cause -- U.S. imperialism -- had not been ended. In the two decades since that war, the U.S. has continued to use its military might to dictate its terms to the people of the world -- at an enormous cost in human suffering and life. These interventions have created new generations of anti-imperialist veterans who have joined our organization -- their organization -- to lend their voice and determination to exposing and opposing U.S. imperialism and its interventions. We welcome all veterans of all eras!

  • Why the site?
We started this web site in order to expand our ability to oppose U.S. intervention. We have done direct outreach since the beginning and we have published StormWarning!  for the last two decades or so. The "Net" was the next logical arena to create public opinion.

  • Why do you use Netscape 3.x as your browser version?
Many of the people accessing our site do not have access to high-speed connections and/or the latest computer equipment. We feel that it is more important to get information out to the largest number of people possible than it is to use the newest and fanciest browser capabilities. So, we have made a conscious decision to focus on content, keep our graphics small and be accessible to the broadest audience possible.

  • What about a graphics library?
We have been asked about providing download capabilities for our graphics. All graphics on this site can be saved to your local drive by clicking and holding on the graphic until a dialogue box appears (Mac) or by right-clicking on the graphic (PC). One of the choices is: Save this image/picture as... Highlight this choice and release the mouse button. You will be asked where to save it and what name to give it. Have fun and use them in creative ways. If you have any graphics that you feel we could use, please send them as attachments to our email address (if they are small) or point us to their location (if they are large).
