During the Gulf War, our Outpost in Savannah, GA, told us how the anti-war movement there became intimidated by Rambozoids and eventually stopped having demonstrations, while the city fathers held daily flag parades downtown. "What can be done," the Outpost asked, "to carry on in this climate?"
Our roots are in the anti-war GI movement of the Vietnam days and let's face it, everything we did then was illegal. On base we couldn't openly distribute literature, have demos or anything. But we were still able to find ways to organize. The example of GI resisters, taking action no matter what personal consequences, serves as an inspiration and example for us all. Every anti-war action doesn't require the same risk. So if the intimidation is too great, don't give up-just remember the principles of the guerillas and go underground! This means doing things like:
Most of all, remember that sometime the most appropriate action is to be brave in the face of danger. Bold actions taken in unfriendly political territory can often change the situation dramatically.
