THE WEATHER UNDERGROUND

Directors: Sam Green & Bill Seigel

Thumbs Up Unfortunately I only made it to one movie during the entire Seattle Film Festival this year. Fortunately it was a good one. "The Weather Underground" is a surprisingly accurate documentary (from what little I know). What I do know is that I found it important and profound that the weather-people's so-called "violent acts" against property were placed in context with the real violence being perpetrated on the people of Vietnam and in our own inner cities at the time. The interviewed activists were mainly refreshingly progressive in that they did not condemn their own or comrades past actions and in fact mostly felt they didn't do enough. Some are still active and some regret the tactics used. The fact that the Weather Underground, in all their actions, harmed no one physically, except themselves, is a tribute to their planning and maybe a little luck. Check it out!
